Mixed Media/Collage (CHA Part 2)

He knows my Name
While at CHA I went to something called "Be Inspired- A Canadian Designer Look & Learn Special Event for Retailers"  Eight designers were given a box of supplies from 4 different sponsors. (Canvas Corp, DecoArt,  Loisirs Harmonie  and Tsukineko ) With the supplies, each designer had to come up with something and tell us all about it. Each participant was given the same box of supplies and although we had instructions for each designer project I decided to do my own thing!

Supplies, I still have enough for 20 projects!

Collage...fun, fun, fun!

Luke 12:7

When looking at that bird I was reminded of how God looks after the sparrows and how much more important we are to Him.  The verse I think, goes perfectly with the title "He Knows my Name" which came to me after asking God what I should name it.  I was really excited when the next day (today!) I sat down to do my bible study and that very same verse was one that I had to read. I love it when God does that, I guess He's trying to tell me something! The study I am doing is  "lies Women Believe and the Truth that Sets Them Free" Two of the truths I learned today are:
1-My value is not determined by what others think of me or what I think of myself. My value is determined by how God views me-and I am precious to Him!
2-By faith, I need to receive God's love for me. I naturally love myself; I need to deny myself and let God love others through me.

Go read  Psalm 139 to understand "He Knows my Name"

And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows. Luke 12:7 (NLT)

Cool Stuff I Made at CHA Part One

I call this piece "J loves M"
I took many classes at CHA in Chicago, this was one of them. It was sponsored by 7 Gypsies and I really enjoyed it for the short time that I was there. (I had a plane to catch!) I made a few changes but for the most part I kept to the directions.

Neat little bottles with "rubbings" on them

A journal- front side

Back side of journal

This piece is to remind me of a number of things. J stands for both Jesus and Jason. They both love me and think I'm beautiful. (regardless of what I think!) It reminds me that I was lost but now am found. (eternally in Jesus) I have life in abundance and with J&J there's always adventures too! Also, the word "art" in the bottom left corner signifies that through art I can worship my maker and draw closer to him.

I loved all the tiny hardware!

Together

I don't finish anything. My house is full of unfinished projects...my scrapbooking and art... even worse. Sometimes it could be finished in under 30 minutes but since I've already moved on to something else I don't bother. So this summer I want to finish what I start whether it's a new thing or something that just needs to be done with. This canvas is the perfect example. Back at the end of March I took an amazing class with Donna Downey. I love her designs and I love her teaching style even more. She was so fun and easy going. She taught me to stop over thinking it. (I'm the queen of over thinking  when I'm crafting...) For this class I was suppose to use a lot of water and very little paint. I didn't listen and was disappointed with my "too dark" background. I intend to try this again. I just couldn't help myself with the paint!!! If you like the fabric flowers you can learn how to make them here I promise, they are easy. I have no sewing skills and I managed just fine. I was going to use a family picture for this but since I've left part of my heart in Haiti (twice!) I thought this photo was fitting.
