Hello blogger friends!
It's February and I've been busy making Valentine cards which is highly unusual for me. I don't consider myself a card specialist but I must say that making them mixed-media style was very enjoyable! As for Valentine's day well...maybe it's growing on me a little! Of course the beautiful laser cut chipboard pieces from Gina's Designs were a major source of inspiration for these cards!
I love this Eiffel tower from the Parisian Shape Set
I covered it in Distress Crackle Paint by Ranger.
The lovely heart piece is from the Build A Layout Romance collection, as are all the other love and heart pieces. I covered it with Distress Stain and some Stickles from Ranger.
The Love You piece was first painted pink, then I stamped it with the same background stamp as above and below. The last step was to cover it with clear (but glittery) embossing powder from WOW.
For the card background I simply painted it with red acrylic paint and then covered it with bunched up plastic wrap. When it was dry I removed the plastic wrap and it left this really cool effect.
These feminine pieces are also from the Parisian Shape Set. They work well with the Paris Background Stamp from Tim Holtz. The chipboard is covered with WOW Embossing powder. The light pink background was done by painting the card with watercolor, (I used Gelatos from Faber-Castell) followed by a sprinkle of salt that I removed when dry.
Using my favorite stamp from Dina Wakley, I create a simple background to showcase these beautiful hearts painted with acrylic paint.
That's it for today, stay tuned for more Valentine (ish) projects coming your way!
