Cricut Vintage Purse with Mini Album

Hello blogger friends, I came across this project this week. It was beneath many piles of art supplies and unfinished projects. (Sad, I know!) I'm not very organized and I tend to spread throughout the house. Then comes the awkward moment where we're having people over for dinner and I need to find the dinning room table. (yes I realize that my studio has four tables and I shouldn't use the dinning room. What is your point?!!) Anyhow, I end up piling everything and throwing it in my little office space where I hide all my crafting supplies from the world. And that brings me to finding this project! I made it two years ago for a specific publication and I never send it in. I wasn't as brave then as I am now!

So on to my project...

Here's how I made it:
Using the Cricut and the Forever Young Cartridge, I cut out the vintage purse as big as I could on a 12x24 mat. I assembled it and covered it with  ruffle trim. It's holding together with Helmar 450 glue. After measuring the inside, I created an album that would fit perfectly, using sheets of chipboard from Grafix . I covered each page with sheets from an old pattern and then applied paint to the edges and other areas. I finished the album by adding old photos and embellishing the pages with a variety of left-overs from my stash. (K and Company die cut flowers, One pair of pearl earrings, Tim Holtz Idea-ology papery tissue tape-Nostalgic, Tickets: 7 Gypsies, Craft flowers and buttons: Graphic 45) The book is held together with two pieces of the ruffle trim, I used a Crop-A-Dile to punch the holes.

I love ruffle purses and would love to make myself one but I don't sew. Maybe I could glue one together?

I love to hear from you, please comment and let me know what you think!
