Hello blogger friends,
Happy St-Patrick's Day!
When
it comes to mixed media projects, I'm always looking for fun and
creative ways to add excitement to the process. And what can be more
fun than playing with shaving cream! This technique is easy and once
you try it, you'll want to do it over and over again.
Supplies
Shaving cream (not gel)
Paper plate,
Plastic fork
Fluid ink
Scraper
6"x6" canvas
In this tutorial, I'll show you how to make a background for your mixed media project using the shaving cream technique. Whether it's a canvas, an art journal page, a tag, an embellishment or all of the above, you'll be pleased with the results.

In this tutorial, I'll show you how to make a background for your mixed media project using the shaving cream technique. Whether it's a canvas, an art journal page, a tag, an embellishment or all of the above, you'll be pleased with the results.
Step
One: Spray
shaving cream onto the back of a paper plate. This makes it easier to
get the corners of your canvas. Spread it around evenly and about
1/2" thick.
Step
Two: Randomly
squeeze a few drops of ink onto the shaving cream. Use two to three
different colors
Step
Three: Make
a pattern in the ink with a fork. Don't mix the inks too much or it
will turn into one color.
Step
Four: Press
your canvas into the shaving cream, making sure to get the corners.
Step Five: Scrape the shaving cream off the canvas and use a paper towel to clean off any residue.
Your
canvas is now ready for more layers. At this point, you can use up
the rest of the shaving cream. There's usually enough to color a few
journal pages or a 12"x12" piece of cardstock that you can
cut up into tags or use in a die-cutting machine to make unique
embellishments. I used the left-overs to make embellishments. To finish off the canvas I added a little bit of gesso and some stamps. To bring out my clover, I covered it with Glossy Accents.
I don't believe in luck but I do believe I am blessed indeed!
