I think I have a few good excuses, croup, chicken pox, whooping cough and now a kid with a fractured foot. I still really want to try some of those amazing techniques but they won't be Christmas tags! The one I did manage to do was so much fun, you can read all about it on Tim's blog Tag 1, where it began and ended for me! All the instructions are there for you to follow, I will only talk about the changes I made.
I cut out various bits with my cricut for the greenery. I used an old earring for the jewels and I used a sweater string dyed in green distress ink (pine) as a ribbon.
I haven't been much for embossing but now I'm totally addicted! Through Tim's tutorial I learned how to ink up the folder and then add embossing powder and heat set it. I'm embossing everything now, I just love it! I think I need to buy more folders since I only have one, good thing I have a few in stock!
I used my Cricut machine to cut out the letters and then used Zing embossing powder to make them silver.
Tim used his tattered pine cone die and Vagabond to cut out the most AMAZING pine cones but I don't happen to have one of those and I wasn't going to let that small detail stop me! The creative girl inside of me just had to find a way! Of course my pine cones are not as nice as Tim's but as long as I don't compare them side by side, I'm really pleased on how they turned out! I started out by cutting some scalloped circles, I only used the outer part and rolled them up. I did forget to stamp them with music script, and as I look at the pictures I realize I forgot the stickles too but hey, it's Christmas eve! (and for the record, I will get my hands on all those amazing dies that he used!)
These look a lot like the real pine cones I have in the backyard, far from perfect but beautiful none the less!
Merry Christmas everyone!
