Why Waste Wednesday

I have a goal. My goal is to use up my stash, my very large stash! I have always hated wasting things and scrapbooking products are definitely not different. I have bins full of left-over pieces of chipboard, letters, embellishment, papers, you name it. AND I KNOW YOU DO TOO!!! So I have decided to challenge myself with "Why Waste Wednesday" I will attempt to create a layout made entirely out of left-overs and scraps...shouldn't be too hard considering how much I have! I am constantly opening new packages or kits and adding to my mountain of "left-overs"! Well no more. By this time next year my stash will be considerably smaller!

For my first week I am using the sketch of the week for Scrapbook News and Review   It's a simple one and was really quick to put together.

For this layout, I started out with choosing two of the ugliest, thin, cheap, old (not vintage, just old!) pieces of patterned papers I could find in my stash. I figure why waste a new piece of cardstock! I glued them together so I now have a white piece on both sides. You can see the pattern a bit but I like the texture it gave.

Next I ransacked through my chipboard bin and selected these pieces.

They were not the colour I needed so I scratched them all up with my nifty scratching tool and inked them up.

I wasn't quite satisfied at this point so I added a coat of Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint to all the surfaces.

I'm not usually a fan of white backgrounds but I've been wanting to try the "splatter"  look for a while. This page feels more like a journal page but I'm happy with it! The best part is that it didn't cost me a penny!
