For my embossing I tried a few different techniques. The first one was to sand the embossing to make it look distressed, I can never get enough of this! To emboss these long strips I cut through the top of my embossing folder. (don't worry, it's OK, Tim Holtz told me to do it!) I added some cute little pearls that I had in my stash for a little more interest.
The second technique was to ink up the raised image to make it stand out.
The third was to ink up my folder so that the images would be stamped as well as embossed.
This is what I started out with. The kits is from 2004 (TLC which no longer exists!) The extra pieces were left-overs from different kits. All of it was anywhere from 4-8 years old. I remember when I stashed it. I thought it was beautiful and surely I would have another baby girl at some point. (I already had two) My next child was a boy and although I did have a third girl three years ago I never did use the kit. It was as if I thought nothing beautiful was ever going to come out again!
Yes, this is what I use to emboss! I bought this when money was really tight and I can't part with it! I use the cricut for diecuts but I don't own an embossing machine. This works just fine and it's free. I didn't even bother to buy an adapter, the book makes it work!
