Word Art

Hello fellow bloggers, I've been practicing my art journaling skills and I'm back with a page inspired by the Word Art at Word Art Wednesday.

This page started with a spray ink disaster, no surprise there! If you've been reading my blog you know that I'm a newbie at art journaling and I especially struggle with the sprays! To cover up the mess I used some book text and masking tape (my new favourite!) I then added lots of paint, stamps and scraps of paper to further cover up and add texture. If you look carefully, you will see that I used the bottom of a flip flop again to add the stripy pattern.

I found this really cool heart on my desk. I made it last January in a workshop and although I can't tell you how I made it I plan on refreshing my memory on how to make it. I'll keep you posted!
I used a black big brush marker to shade around the heart. I love how it made it look 3-D, it's mod podged right on the page but it doesn't look that way.
The word JOY is stamped with one of my favourite stamp collections. It was designed by me and I had it made into a stamp. (along with all the other fruit of the Spirit...)

If you have been wanting to try art journaling, I hope that you will real soon. Everyone tells me that there is no right or wrong way to do it and it's a wonderful way to practice new techniques. No matter what kind of mess I make, it's always so good to look through my journal. Go ahead, try it!

  2. No one would even suspect that you are new at this art journaling thing, Marjolaine! And, had you now told us, we would never know the mishap that lies below the beautiful surface of this motivational page! I love the items and techniques that you have used to add texture to this work, but your heart is the centerpiece! Love that 3-D look!

  3. Good to hear you've practicing on art journaling. And I really love how your page turned out! Love the colors and the heart and all the little details in it.
And as I say in my art journaling video's: a "mistake" can turn things into beautiful things.

Just keep on going with your art journaling. Would love to see more.

Thanks so much for sharing your art with us on WAW.

    Have a blessed day!
